The lightsaber hilt in your hand? Well that's your focus (or instrument if you prefer M20 slang). Anyway I personally rule that to make energy weapons you need prime 2 forces 3, which you nearly allready have, so if you got some prime you can do the lightsaber without actually spending points on buying a wonder. I don't know if they made making energy weapons Prime 3 in M20, in revised it was Prime 2 I think. Ether, Force, just names for the same thing really. And when you use the Force your scientific comrades call it psychic powers used by drawing onto etheric powers. Laserswords work - if you use the porper crystals harvested on some far away planet (Umbra hurray!). On the other hand if you actually want to build a lightsaber a more technically inclined paradigm might be more suitable. Well if that isn't the Force they are talking about. They all awakened to the truth that all religions lead back to the One. Still I'd think that the Celestial Chorus would actually fit nicely here. Akashic on the other hand could kinda somewhat work. Sure they'd take you, stuff you into House Ex Misc and then treat you like a second class citizen because your paradigm doesn't really fit. Hermetic is a terrible choice I should think. However should you want something more tangible, a disembodied Jedi (or Sith) Master may work. This could be a hurdle for your char, though how you overcome them is probably an interesting part of the game.Īs for your Avatar : The Force itself is very intangible, which does not mean your Avatar couldn't appears as expressions of the Force in several guises. Long Story short : While everything is possible in the SW universe, many things mages can do are considered to be sooooo difficulty that even the most powerful Force wielders of all time never pulled them off (like stopping time). Sure there are ways of doing matter magic, but only really Sith Alchemy comes to mind, etc blabla. Basically while Yoda would agree that through the Force everything is possible, they mostly keep to Forces and Mind effects and maybe some lower level Time, Entropy and Life. Sure healing through the Force is quite possible, but transforming into Animals is rarely covered in the SW material iirc.
The Force paradigm can actually be quite constraining, because while certain applications of the Forces sphere are very commonly useable (Telekinesis) others would probably encur entropic darkside resonance for you (Force Lightning), though that depends on how your ST handles resonance and if your char tends toward a more greyish view of the force.Īlso some Spheres would probably be somewhat limited in their use. His avatar’s will be the Force, and he will believe that everything is possible through it. So, basically what you think about this char, how can he get a lightsaber and where should I put the other freebies points? So, I might just get a retractile sword that turns into a whole strong sword (Matter) inbued with prime energy(Prime). Getting 1 paradox point everytime he turns the blade on/off isn’t a good idea tough. I don’t know if this would be vulgar, probably yes, since there is no lightsaber in real life (but there isn’t plasma canons as well…). It would work as a blade hilt that materialize the blade (which deals agg damage) of energy. I picked 2 points in Wonder background to get a device with Prime and Matter. (Think of him as a Expanded Universe sith). Life 3 is a must too, since it allows the mage to heal his wounds and increase his physical attributes. It makes possible telekinesis and lightning. I may spend it to increase willpower and maybe get some backgrounds, or spend in Mind or Prime 2.įorces 3 is a must. I still have 14 points of freebie (using 7 flaws) and I don’t know where to spend. Str 3 Dex 4 Sta 3 Cha 1 Man 3 App 2 Per 3 Int 3 Wi t2Īlertness 2 Athletics 3 Drive 1 Firearms 2 Martial Arts 3 Meditation1 Melee 3 Technology 3 Computer 3 Occ ult 3 Science 3įorces 3 Life 3 Avatar 3 Wonder 2 Familiar(Robot) 2 Arete 3 Willpower5 I haven’t chose his tradition yet, probably Order of Hermes or Akashic. He will be a Mage with a Star Wars paradigm. As my avatar can hint, I’m a huge Star Wars fan and since Mage is a game limited only for your imagination, I want to go on and try this character. I’ve never played Mage, only Werewolf and Vampire and now I might play it.
